Should not generally be a problem.  Other than be carefull not to damage the 
machine by dumping other stuff on it.  Sometimes people "toss" stuff in their 
trunks (boot) -- suitcases, etc.  A heavy modern hardshell piece of luggage 
when dropped on a laptop is probably not good for the laptop -- eg can crack 
the screen and/or case and/or motherboard...

Extreme heat might also be an issue, although that might not be too much of a 
problem in the trunk.
