Nothing stands out, but you could try flipping gamma, maybe srgb, 
settings. Incorrect gamma might result in similar darkening.

As for checking with a new/clean/default profile, I would:

- make sure all firefox instances are closed;
- move profiles to backup
   (mv .mozilla .mozilla.bak)
- start Firefox, which will create a new .mozilla with default settings, 
no extensions etc.
