well, it should definitely not touch your existing sources.list but add
an additional file to the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ dir that just
contains pointers to esm.ubuntu.com ... 

if you are convinced this was really the case (which would be very
surprising) you should file a bug against the ubuntu-pro-client
package.
