Maybe a bit off topic, but....
Because printing problems have been mentioned, I'd like to say, after a
certain amount of wasted time paper and toner I've never had much
confidence in printing directly from LibreOffice etc. to my Brother
HL3040CN which is network connected. I use the same little server
computer as does my email etc. to drive it, installed by the Brother
installer script.
My adopted method of getting it right first time is to prepare two pdfs
for odd and even sheets including the multiple copies in the pdfs. Then
use document viewer to check that the pdfs really are exactly what I
want to print before sending them, even sheets first to the printer.
The last really annoying problem that I had with printing multiple
copies was that the printer would spit out blank sheets between each
copy which is why I print the multiple copies of odd/even pages to pdfs
which does work properly, then send that to the printer which also
works properly because so far as it's concerned only a single copy of a
multiple page document is being printed.
I've no idea whether the bugs that affect me are living in the Brother
driver or CUPS. They don't really matter to me any more because I have
a work around that I actually prefer to use because I can check that
the full print job is exactly what I want before sending it off to the
server.
