It's definitely maturing.
I had a small kit reshuffle here recently and I am currently using my
old OS testbed as my work computer. Thinkpad W520, quad core i7, 24GB
RAM. OS on an SSD and /home on a spinning hard disk. It's quite an old
box.
I am trying to "lean in" to snaps and I haven't added deb-get or
native .deb versions of anything I can get as a snap. I have Waterfox
and Chrome as Deb packages because there is no (official) snap. Slack,
Skype, Opera, Zellij, and more, all snaps.
It is fast as blazes on this ~12 year old machine. No noticeable delay
opening snapped apps.
I update with:
sudo -s
nala upgrade -y ; snap refresh
... first thing every morning. So I see no messages about updating snaps.
