1. On your test computer, what is the WiFi adaptor, and, do you have a
driver installed for it?
If not, or, if you are not sure, perhaps, if you connect to the
Internet, using USB tethering with a cellphone, and, go to the Control
Center (assuming that Ubuntu Mate 24.10 still has the Control Center),
and, check both the System Reports and the Driver Manager, to ensure
that you have the necessary drivers.
I am basing this on my experience with Ubuntu Mate 22.04 LTS.
