No wifi adapter found in 24.04

This problem appeared during a heavy thunderstorm when I decided to share
my wi-fi hotspot from my Huawei phone with this laptop(old Sony Vaio
updated from 22.04) so I could access Internet.

Except it doesn't work."No Wi-Fi adapter found". Bluetooth(very slow) seems
to be only option.

lshw is installed.
lsusb lists Huawei modem, yet no additional drivers are found.

iwconfig: no wireless extensions.

Initially I blamed upgrading to 24.04, since it doesn't even recognize
wi-fi of ZTE modem(said modem was unplugged during thunderstorm) and
doesn't offer settings to turn it on or off.(unlike 22.04 did).

(Can supply results of other commands if requested. This is my first time
mailing to mailing list.)
