erratic GNU emacs behaviour on 24.04.1, started from the dash

Hi,

I've just performed a clean install of Ubuntu 24.04.1 x86_64 on a lenovo
All-In-One PC.

Some thoughts...

1. The installer has an activity indicator - a sort of pulsing effect at
the bottom of the installer window. Is it practical for this to have a
percentage progress indicator or something like "n of m files installed"?

2. Thunderbird. I tried using the App Center to uninstall the Thunderbird
snap but could not find a way to do it. There was no "Remove" button that I
could find.

3. emacs. Now it is a snap (I was using a .deb earlier), I installed it
from the App Center and it launches OK but I did not have time to do any
rigorous testing.

That's all folks!

Thank you for Ubuntu 24.04.1 :)

BW,

Ian
