Odd behavior after xscreensaver unlock in 24.04.1 latest

I don't have that issue in Kubuntu, but Kubuntu doesn't come with a
screensaver, so I configure the lock-screen to behave as one by
configuring its behavior to display a random, scaled slideshow at
2-minute intervals and choosing the directories it's allowed to pick
images from. You might want to try that as a work-around or an
alternative solution.
