A quick web search turns up docx2txt
(http://docx2txt.sourceforge.net/) and pandoc (https://pandoc.org/) as
possibilities. There's also AbiWord.

I've never tried any of those (well, no AbiWord in years...).

Personally I prefer LibreOffice - I use it all the time. YMMV.
