There was a bug discovered with how the update-manager handles packages
after the sources.list files have been switched to the new deb822
format, it causes unexpected package removals for packages from PPAs as
well as for certain flavours (i.e. removing kubuntu-desktop or lubuntu-
desktop and dependencies during the upgrade process) ...
If you do not use any PPAs and are on a standard Ubuntu install (not
Kubuntu, Xubuntu or Lubuntu)´, you can use:
sudo do-release-upgrade -d
if you *do* use PPAs or are in a flavour, I'd wait til the system
notifies you about the update being available and not jump the gun yet
...
