annoying behavior!! dimming of display when not in use

Hi

I've noticed that the display will dim a bit when not in use!! not go
to black, but a dim/lowering of intensity.

I've tried power/automatic "off" for the light, no effect.

so, I'm trying different things..

Any thoughts/ideas?
