Alan tried this and dmidecode worked as you said.

is:  NXSHPEK00263523F897600

----I can only concur with Charles' comment below that Acer is pretty bad
about keeping BIOS/driver files for older systems - this is officially
abandonware!
----I'll take a look at 3rd-party BIOS sources, and see what is on offer.
