I don't know what openSUSE is up to, but Ctrl-Alt-Fn, when n is 1 through 7
switches to one of 7 virtual "screens". If you have X11 (and Wayland?), one
of the "screens" is tied to the X11 Server (Wayland server?). The others are
tied to getty processes (terminal logins). This "feature" is implemented for
ALL Linux distros and is part of the kernel.
