It would depend on *exactly what the fault is. It is clear that the cable is
not completely disconnected -- complete disconnection would result in no
keyboard function at all. A "loose" connection means some contact is
intermitten. The intermitten connection is causing the key up event to be
lost, intermittenly. (I suspect other events are being lost too, but also
being intermitten, might be less noticeable or chaulked up to not hitting the
key(s) hard enough or something.)
It could also be something like a keyboard that is just plain faulty. It
happens sometimes...
