That's how full volume encryption works on Linux, including with LVM.

It's fun. But I'm not using encryption in case somebody threatens me (I
will gladly give away all the details - except the obfuscated drive hidden
inside the encrypted drive, of course... oh wait... now you know too).
But really, whole disc encryption is if some punk steals my laptop on a
plane, or on a train, or somewhere where I left it unattended for too
long... Or just some stupid work colleague who thinks they can look into my
machine when I'm not near it...
