process for running ubuntu on windows (was: setting up/converting windows 11-> ubuntu)

Hi Jeff.

Thanks for reply. I'm actually looking to take a fresh windows 11 laptop
with 128G ssd, and converting it to an ubuntu laptop.  I'm looking to
create the backup boot installable usb with the windows 11 iso, as well as
product key in the event I need to go back.

At the same time, I'll be installing ubuntu and the rest of the
apps/processes. The goal is to have the os in the ssd, and the rest of the
processes/data on the usb/sata 1TB drive.
