AI thoughts

Hi,
aside from the fact that probably very little of the AI in use today is
actually useful and most of it is crap in one way or another, there are
some applications where AI can be a good and helpful thing, but there
are also issues of humanity and environmental impact. Is it appropriate
for a particular application to accept the unethical? There are
certainly cases where AI does not have such negative side effects.
Are rosewood fingerboards or ivory-covered keys more pleasant for the
musician to use than other materials? There is no doubt that this is the
case in almost all cases, but is the difference to other materials in
most cases so great that the use of rosewood and ivory can continue
unhindered with a clear conscience?
Back to AI. What do you expect from it and are the possibly associated
inhumane and nature-destroying side effects irrelevant to you?
I am definitely in favor of AI, but I am absolutely against the still
catastrophic use of AI. Decades ago AI used to be one of my areas of
interest and Joseph Weizenbaum was my role model right from the start.
Regards,
Ralf
