Hi,
Curious to hear others’ thoughts on this:
Assume someone had a phone call with an HR representative, where they were simply seeking feedback. During the call, the HR person assumed the person’s race by referring to them as "a black man" and also assumed their business setup by describing it as a "one-man band." The HR person had never met this person in person before.
Would people find these assumptions inappropriate and unnecessary, especially since their race, gender, or business setup weren’t relevant to the conversation?
What do you think? Is it ever appropriate for an HR person to make these types of assumptions during a professional discussion?
Cheers,
Dunstan
