You might want to try "old fashioned CLI" front-end called

parted

instead of the graphical

gparted

In recent decades you may find fewer and fewer situations where you are
unable to start a graphical interface, but when supporting linux I find it
helpful to at least have some familiarity with some of the "tried and true"
command line utilities of yore, especially in the face of major failures.
(I'm thinking of vi or vim and dd and ... well the exact tools you need
depend on what kind of sysadmin magic you're trying to perform.)

The next time you're working with a crippled system and can't load much of
the OS, you might want to at least know you have good old parted around.
