New to Ubuntu - Ethernet won't come up

I'm using Xubuntu (not Ubuntu server), my netplan file
/etc/netplan/01-network-manager-all.yaml has the following:

network:
  version: 2
  renderer: NetworkManager

Not sure if you're using Ubuntu server, or the minimal Ubuntu desktop
then installing mail-in-a-box on top. If you are using Ubuntu Server I
might also be able to install Ubuntu Server on a Zotac ZBox (I think
we still have a few kicking around), but I likely won't get the chance
until Thursday.
