Hi,
*If anyone is experiencing the abovementioned problem, the fix is:*
Settings > Apps > App Center > Disable OpenGL
It appears to be an OpenGL issue. There is a possibility that I failed to
"Install third party software for Graphics and WiFi" but I am almost
certain that I installed it...
*The output of journalctl -f shows:*

The bug was experienced on a Dell Inspiron 530s Desktop PC.
CPU: Intel Core 2 E6550
RAM: 8GiB
Kernel Module (graphics): i915
The Lenovo T4200 ThinkPad I am typing this on has
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2540M CPU @ 2.60GHz
RAM: 8GiB
Kernel Module (graphics): i915
The T420 has OpenGL enabled for the AppCenter and works fine.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Ian
