Microphone not working when using Google Meet.

I am told that my laptop (an ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. VivoBook_ASUSLaptop
E510KA_E510KA) has a microphone. I am further being told that there isn't
an easy way to control it through the computer's BIOS, so my guess is that
it's been buggered.
So thanks for your help. I guess I'll just have to dial into meetings that
I have through Google Meet with my trusty landline phone if I need to speak.
