Ubuntu 24.04.3 x86_64 - quirk with 2 storage drives

Hi,

TL;DR Ubuntu installer crashed whilst dealing with a home drive that had no
partition table.

Contact, a charity I volunteered for, recently had a fairly modern custom
built PC donated, on the condition that the 2 drives inside (sda, 250GiB
SSD, sdb 1TB HDD) were wiped.

I wiped sda by filling it up with random data (from /dev/urandom), then
installed Ubuntu 24.04.3 on sda. Then I booted that and filled up sdb with
random data and then ran shred -v -z on it.

This morning I booted the 24.04.3 installer from a Ventoy stick. I chose
manual partitioning:
sda1 VFAT /boot/efi 1.13GB   (To be formatted)
sda2 ext4 /         248.93GB (To be formatted)
sdb1 ext4 /home     1.0TB    (To be formatted)

The Ubuntu Installer crashed about 10:28am BST, I agreed for crash data to
be sent.

I ran GParted and, on sdb, I created:
* Partition table
* Created a Partition sdb1
* Formatted sdb1 as ext4

I re-ran the installer and it completed with no errors.

HTH,

Ian
