As long as you're happy with that, then all is well. If you'd like to
see the splash screen during boot, you can add "splash" back to that
line in the file.

I sometimes see extra boot messages after some updates (like kernel
updates) while the system is still in a state of making changes based
on those updates. Those vanish on subsequent boots. Something like
that may have been what you saw. You can check the system logs to
find out if you like.
