Without knowing whether you do what I do, in that I apply selective
updates, rather than full system updates (I haven't updated firefox,
since I read that Mozilla turned versions later than the one that I
have, into malware, breaching security and privacy and tracking users,
like malignant partners that use tracking devices to track movements of
their victim spouses and/or boyfriends/girlfriends, and, I defer
updating software that I am in the midst of using, including the system
kernel, until something like a system crash or an otherwise software
crash requires a reboot or otherwise reloading the software), if you do
not so apply selective updates, but, mandatorily apply full system
updates, then, instead of using your Discover thing (that sounds like
some Microsoft thing), I suggest using the proverbial sequence
sudo -i
apt update
apt full-upgrade -y
apt autoremove -y
apt autoclean
and then, if applicable (for example, for kernel and/or Intel microcode
updates),
shutdown -r now
Of course, you might not regard that as appropriate for your
circumstances, and, some people may disagree with my suggestion, but,
that is what I suggest.
I do not, above, concatenate the command lines, using the "&&"
concatenation, because it does not work in my Linux Mint Mate.
