Remote Wayland access

Folks
I run some servers as a hobby, some of which are remote. I manage
them from my Windows 11 machine at home, using SSH sessions, and this
has worked and continues to work. However, occassionally, I want to
run a GUI on a remote server. I have been using x2go, or NoMachine,
and sometimes RDP, all of which work just fine. With the switch to
Wayland in RedHat 10 and Ubuntu 25.10 (and this implies that Ubuntu
26.04 will also), I have not found an equivalent method.
From my reading, RDP would work provided the remote machine was
running a GUI so I could share the desktop. But the system run-level
is command line, and changing that wouldn't be good for my SSH scripts.
Note that I'm trying to access a headless instance of Ubuntu 25.10
from a Windows 11 machine, and really don't want to activate WSL on
my home machine.
I'm assuming that the decision to switch to Wayland took remote
access into account. Any advice would be appreciated.
David
