A couple of years back one of the tabs on the part that surrounds the
processor socket on an Asus motherboard, M4A79XTD EVO, simply snapped
off. It's the tabs that the spring loaded heat sink clips hook onto. I
guess the material suffered fatigue after being under tension for 10 or
12 years.

I found a replacement part on eBay, it fits perfectly, it easily bolts
down. A clean up and fresh heat sink paste and it's been working fine
ever since.

Anyone else experienced this?

Regards to all,

Dave
