Hi all,
 Tromod, the bunch of updates didn't actually fix the situation. I had
to manually edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and delete xforcevesa after the
updates to get it working.

I have put up https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/305138

which talks of both the things, perhaps I need to split it into two
bugs (although dunno if both are related to each other or not).

Please advise or/and correct in the bug description so it makes sense to you.

If needed will put up another bug-report as well (under advise from
Bryce as well as Tromod)
