Got a good backtrace, discovered the problem was described in more detail in
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17431,
left a note in
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13952
as well.

IMHO if you're going to call X bulletproof and hot-pluggable,
this bug needs fixing, even though it only rears its ugly head
when the monitor is unplugged.
