[ubuntu-za] problem with synaptic package manager

ill try the repositories last, i am on a dial up & i have gcc-4.3.6 on CD so
i want to get it to work. i did it on a nother PC of mine & it worked, but i
had to do sum fiddling. ill have to play around a bit
