[ubuntu-za] Feisty upgrade problems

Recently attempted the upgrade from Edgy to Feisty beta - I went the
upgrade manager route (i.e update-manager -d). 

On reboot everything looks fine, until the very end when I get a Warning
message about a missing symlink related to a previous kernel and failure
to load a blacklisted module IPV6. Then nothing.

I've got two questions.

- Will I be able to recover the upgrade from this state - or do I have
to do a clean install?

- Any suggestions on how I can recover the data on my hard drive?

And no I don't have a back-up (naughty naughty).
