  I will give the multiple version skip thing a try - if I remember
correctly I skipped a version or two when I upgraded my VPS without
issue but it was a few months ago so can't confirm.

  I have my own gripes with Ubuntu that I need to fix too... things
like 3G GUI support being non-existant (The bovine stuff does not work
well) and multiple screen support (xinerama)  keeps killing my X
config everytime I enable it and codecs for AVI & MPG play back and a
few other minor irritations.  Once I got these solved I can finally
move my laptop over to Ubuntu.... till then it is trapped in a windows
hell (c:}
