The only difference between Kubuntu and Ubuntu is that they have
different meta-packages installed, so that a different desktop
environment gets installed.  This won't make any difference to whether
they use pmount, and have fstab entries, and so on.

If you have fstab entries for your camera, then I'm almost 100% sure
that you put them there yourself?
