[ubuntu-za] Gutsy internet issues

Upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10 went swimmingly over the weekend - until I
noticed that my internet connectivity is close to non-existent (there is
some data transfer, but very very slow). I can communicate with my
router (Netgear 8340GT) wirelessly - so I don't think it's an issue with
wireless and Ethernet giving me the same problem.

There appear to be quite a few users complaining on the forums about the
same issue, with some mentioning IPv6 as a possible culprit. Anyone else
with similar problems? Any solutions, work-arounds lurking out there? I
went from a working internet connection with Feisty to an unworkable one
with Gutsy.
