MySQL is open source and free, the enterprise edition offers additional 
features and 24/7 tech support but there is nothing wrong with the free 
edition. You can find more information as well as download links at 
http://dev.mysql.com, although it is also in the Ubuntu repos which is 
my preferred method of installation.
