[ubuntu-za] Cellphone problem in Ubuntu 8.10

Hi Guys

I hope someone can help me out. My SonyErricsson W850i phone has
packed up, so I'm using my dad's old Samsung SGH-Z500 phone. When I
plug it into my machine with the USB cable, Ubuntu detects it and lets
me set up a connection. My problem is when I click to connect, it
show's it trying to connect then I just get a disconnected message all
the time. Any idea's? At the moment I have to connect the phone to my
work laptop running xp and I've shared the connection over my switch
so I can use internet in ubuntu, but it's a hassle to hook up the
laptop everytime I want to go online.
