Try disabling compiz. I think its in the appearance preference for desktop effects.

Subject: [ubuntu-za] Suspend/Resume issues on Jaunty
Hi Guys
This is my first post so here goes...
I started using Ubuntu Jaunty from, well the day it was released. I've got everything running and working except for being able to Suspend/Resume or Hibernate. If i suspend, it all goes fine, but when I try to resume, the screen stays black for a while (it has signal though), then after a while it goes plain grey. Once I managed to get back to the desktop but then crashed into shell with a whole load of I/O errors. Only option is to force a reboot.
I've tried updating to the latest Bios, disabling screen savers... but just cant seem to get it to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've run out of ideas:)
Im running a Desktop with Jaunty 64 bit.
Asus motherboard M4N82 Deluxe
AMD Phenom II X4 quadcore 3Ghz processor
NVidea graphics
Thanks guys
Josh
