[ubuntu-za] Export and Import thunderbird

hello all

i have a friend at work who is currently using linux in one machine 
(ubuntu) and windows on the  other, but he's using thunderbird on the 
linux machine, thats his central station.
but now he wants to control all he's emails from the desktop machine 
(windows)

what he would like to know, is how can this process be done easily?

transfer all emails, subfolders, contacts from thunderbird in linux to 
thunderbird in windows?

i recall a few months ago, this was a simple process, but i cant recall 
what i had to do..

any hints?
