While xubuntu is slightly lighter weight, it is also slightly less 
intuitive, and is missing some helpful components.  You will need to use 
the alt-install, but with a good swap files, the full gnome version is 
quite usable on these older systems at 256 meg of ram.  128 is possible, 
but painful.
