I did the dd thing incorrectly, and imagewriter had an issue, so I read
carefully and dd'd properly. The acer now runs smoothly, and don't get me
started on the crap that Acer gives with this thing. The guy I am doing this
for has a friend who got it for his grandma - no networking (including
ethernet) without becoming root (you have to alt+f2 and run su and then
nm-applet) in order to be able to connect to ethernet. Then you update your
distro (takes forever) and then you can install the 3g drivers via the
vodaphone supplied script. And then it only works sometimes. I booted UNR
from the flash-drive to check if all works well and I plugged in the 3g and
we were a for away.
I must say I liked the look of the Linpus desktop, better than the brown
Ubuntu, but still - this works yonks better than Linpus when Ubuntu is
running. Also the added bonus of having an e-book reader installed is cool.
I would run it with the classic desktop if it were mine, but alas it
isn't...
Now the obvious next question - any tweaks for UNR for the aspire1 I should
look into?
Thanks for your help guys!
Cheers.
