Yes.  You need to fix stuff.

Now could you tell use what kind of video card you have? :)  There are 
three likely, and all three have different fixes.

Again, several.  The quickest way is to make a new user, and log in.  If 
it works there it is a user config.  If not it is a system problem, or 
hardware.  At that point, but a LiveCD and see if you still have the 
problem.  If it works, it is a system config problem, and if not it is 
hardware.
