Hi
Don't know if this will work, I have intel chipset here at work
At home I have a nvidia card ( not the latest ), I installed Ubuntu 9.10 from scratch ( I recently bought a 1 TB drive ), I ran Hardware Drivers, I activated the suggested driver ( I think the 180 ), and it works perfectly
you can try
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-nv
the description for xserver-xorg-video-nv in the repos
"This driver for the X.Org X server (see xserver-xorg for a further description)
provides support for NVIDIA Riva, TNT, GeForce, and Quadro cards."
if that does not work then try installing the nvidia 173 or 180 or possibly the 71 drivers from the repos
you might need to enable the restricted repo, if not enabled already
William

I am very happy with it except for this graphics thing.
I have already used synaptic to get nvidia 96
Must I first go and remove them before I try your commands.
I only have 623 ram according to ubuntu so I am scared to get 9.10 and
sit with more problems. I am disabled so there is no cash for extras.
Must make do with what I was given.
But I would like to say thanks alot to all the list people that have
helped me so far and hope to improve my knowlege of this great os.
