Also sometimes I have had problems with non standard acpi implementations on
the motherboard. Symptoms I had from acpi problems are sudden freezes and
stops. You can tell it not to use acpi in the options when starting up and
installing. The option in the command line is acpi=off but you may have to
Google a bit.
