Kinda off-topic but if you have a GPS you might be interested in
chargecar.org
They want to use your travel data as a benchmark for testing their electric
car capacitor battery controller algorithms. Quite interesting stuff and
open source. They'll be able to tell you how much $$$ you can save if you
switch to an electric car.
Also, if there are any coders on this list that are interested they have a
competition to win an electric car for the person that comes up with the
best algorithm to control the car's energy storage.
