Hi all

When I find the time between swotting for exams and numerous other
administrative tasks, I'll add a short report on our "Linux demo" that we
had at our Python course.

Although our original speaker was MIA when it came to the demo, I quickly
put on an impromptu demonstration with Stefano's help. Explained some of the
core philosophies of FOSS. Demoed OpenOffice and explained how interoperable
ubuntu is. Quickly installed some new packages, showed them a couple of
games (They are kids after all) and naturally the desktop cube (i know... i
know...). Also right at the end I showed them MeeGo which I had on my
netbook and then left them to play around on the TSL pc's.

We had quite a few kids attend and they all seemed really interested in
Ubuntu. Despite it being a completely different os, the kids were lanning
open arena in under 5 minutes :P

We also had a box of Ubuntu CD's from which lots of kids took their own
copies.
