[ubuntu-za] blank screen with KVM switch

Hi Guys

I just swapped my trusty PS/2 KVM for a USB KVM with one unfortunate
side-effect... when I boot my PC with the screen connected via the KVM I
get a blank screen.  With the screen connected directly everything
works.

Now here's the fun part, when I boot with the screen connected directly
I get my full graphics screen.  I can then plug it in via the KVM and
continue working as normal.

It seems the KVM prevents Ubuntu from detecting the screen correctly.
Is there a way to avoid this?  Maybe force Ubuntu to use a specific
screen driver?
