Hello Rusty,
The only "open" project I am aware of that needs to do some work for the
soccer WC is Openstreetmap. Many tourists will come with their Iphone or
Garmins and if they can download good maps for their devices, it will be
nice way to show them that SA supports Open Source. A few places still need
some coverage: Rustenburg, Bloemfontein and Durban.
