The two OS's cater for different purposes, consider that Ubuntu is a
desktop-heavy environment, in the sense of local content stored on your
drives.
Cloud computing (aka The Cloud) is storing data, and services like online
applications, online. Chrome OS is focusing on this, so it is good for thin
clients, and Netbooks. Turn on, be online, that is the idea.
We'll have to wait and see if they follow their original plan, though!
