Hi Andre. If you feel daring, have you tried manually installing the drivers
from the site? Thats how I got my FX5200 working.

Get the drivers from nvidia:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Choose the GeForce 5 FX Series Linux drivers. See the "additional info" tab
for installation instructions.

If the setup warns you that X Server is running, then log out, and at the
login screen press ctrl + alt + F1 to switch to a text console, log in there
and:

# stop the x server:
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop

# run the setup
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.25.pkg1.run

# reboot
sudo reboot

when rebooted and logged in, recreate the nvidia config with:
sudo nvidia-xconfig

and you can enter the settings page with sudo nvidia-settings

This worked in Intrepid, and Karmic (IIRC*)*
